The MIT Police Patrol Division is directed by Captain Craig Martin.  Patrol Operations encompasses three operating shifts that deliver the day-to-day police, emergency, and service tasks to the MIT community 24 hours a day/365 days a year, patrolling the Institute and adjacent areas, and answering calls.

These services are provided by sergeants and officers who patrol the campus in cruisers and on foot, bicycles, and motorcycles. Patrol focuses on maintaining a safe community and providing efficient and rapid emergency services. Telephones are answered by a dispatch officer who dispatches police, EMS, and or fire services when and where necessary. Emergency Medical Services are often initiated by the officers in the Patrol Division.
